  • For your friends who can't read urls

I spose parents would also be prime candidates for this extension too, provided you can get them using Firefox in the first place. Its called "Google Safe Browsing for Firefox (beta)" and is designed to alert you when you may have stumbled into a phishing site. (don't tell me you had to click on that) All the explanation we get is that it uses "Advanced Algorithms" to determine if the site is sincere or not. Kinda weak. I mean I know Google dishes out the crazy good algorithms, but can we get a little more specific? Perhaps I'm not really the target audience here since "What is Firefox and where can I get it?" is second on the FAQ list. Who doesn't know what Firefox is and is browsing through the Google Beta tools? Mostly, I think I'm gonna keep reading the urls but I spose I'll give it a try. I mean, it is from Google.

    Update
    Whoa, watch out for this:
    11. What is the Enhanced Protection Feature?

If you enable Enhanced Protection, the Google Safe Browsing Extension will provide more up-to date protection by sending the urls of sites that you visit and limited information about the site content to Google for evaluation
That's like exactly the beef I had with Google Web Accelerator; except now I guess they're just monitoring the pages you visit, not actually cashing them. Read about the CRUX: clear-text url transmission. Hmmm.
I believe the preferred term is "Yadda yadda yadda". You guys are slippin. That deserves a "wag of the finger"

    Another Update
Oh, I spose Google gets a "tip of the hat" for finally rolling out their mobile gmail (m.gmail) page. Good jeorb guys.
